The HitHunter™ Steroid Hormone Assays are homogeneous immunoassays where analogs to the respective steroid hormones compete with ED-steroid hormone for binding to the respective steroid hormone receptor. The assays were designed using EFC detection with red-shifted fluorescent intensity detection.
The HitHunter™ Steroid Hormone Receptor Assay Kit utilizes an ED-steroid hormone conjugate in which the steroid hormone is recognized by the steroid hormone receptor. In the absence of free hormone, the ED fragment is incapable of reassociation with EA to form active enzyme and no fluorescent signal is generated. In the presence of free ligand, ED-steroid hormone conjugate competes with the free ligand for receptor binding. The amount of fluorescent signal is proportional to the amount of nuclear hormone receptor bound.
